Sharing Great News

2 Timothy 1:7-8 (TEV)
"For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, His Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control. Do not be ashamed, then, of witnessing for our Lord; nor be ashamed of me, a prisoner for Christ's sake. Instead, take your part in suffering for the Good News, as God gives you the strength to do it."

How many of us have received a very special gift and could not wait to tell others about it? Or received some wonderful news and went away eager to tell our friends? Often we find this easy to do because it comes naturally.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is just about the greatest news we can know about. When we learn to appreciate the grace that God offers us through His Son, it not only transforms our lives and creates in us a desire to live for Him, it also causes us to want to spread the good news to others.

Recall the story of Jeremiah. About how he tired of preaching in the Lord's name because he was so reviled by his countrymen. Whenever he tried to stop, though, the Lord's message burned so strongly in his bones that he had to resume telling it (Jeremiah 20:9).

Now we may not be prophets like Jeremiah, but if the Gospel is truly good news to us, should we not share it with others with the same fervor so that they may be saved?
