How Solid Is Your Rock?

Matthew 7:26 (NIV)
"But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his on sand."

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the commercial about the Prudential Insurance Company. Their motto is: "Get a piece of the rock." Well, this insurance company is in financial trouble now because it has not dealt honestly with many of its customers. So in essence, the "Rock of Gibraltar" is crumbling under its scandalous reputation. So this rock isn't very solid, is it?

In whom can we place our trust? What is the answer to this age old dilemma? It lies in the Man, Christ Jesus. He is the only sure foundation mankind can rely upon. When a man thinks he can base his life on anything other than Jesus Christ, he is like the foolish man who built his house on sand. Of course, this man's house was destroyed when the storm came. On the other hand, if one puts his complete trust in Christ, he is like the wise man who built his house on rock. When the storm came his house stood firm.

What will your foundation be? Jesus Christ or a counterfeit?

Some of you may recall these words from an old hymn: "On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand."

May the Lord help us to place our trust in Him alone, who is the Rock which will never crumble.
