Are We Headed for Jericho?

By Pastor Chuck Baldwin

March 28, 2008

A friend recently turned me on to the CBS television series, Jericho. I watch so little network television that I confess to never having seen the show before this week. Obviously, then, I am quite uninformed as to the overall plot and previous episodes. What I saw Tuesday evening, however, stunned me. Why? Because it very aptly depicted what could become a very real-life scenario for these United States in the not-so-distant future.

Worldviews on Trial

By Debra Rae

March 9, 2008

A favorite boutique outfits its dressing rooms with flattering lights and what my sister and I laughingly call “skinny mirrors.” Add to the ambiance a fawning sales staff, and women can’t resist shopping there. For many, the illusion of looking younger and somewhat trimmer trumps the reality of “lumps and puffs” indicating otherwise!

The same rings true when it comes to worldviews that stroke the ego or promise special privilege. Rather than embrace stark biblical reality of their sinfulness and personal accountability to a holy God, some concede reality to the skewed, though self-pleasing reflection of a preferred worldview to the contrary.

Without Natural Affection

Coach Dave Daubenmire
February 14, 2008

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

No matter what you think about the inerrancy of the Bible you would have to admit that the Bible is almost eerie in warning us what the world would look like in the future. You can’t read Romans 1 without getting the feeling that the Bible is either true or that someone sure had a great perspective on the nature of man. Either way, reading the Bible with an open-mind is an exercise in wonderment. As Abe Lincoln quoted, “the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.”

Clueless Christians

By Pastor Chuck Baldwin

February 12, 2008

“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” Mark 13:22 (KJV)

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.” II Thessalonians 2:11 (KJV)

What’s with all these clueless Christians? How is it that people who have the benefit of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the warning and insight of the Sacred Scriptures–not to mention a rich Christian heritage here in America–can be so ignorant, blind, and naïve? Yes, the majority of evangelical Christians seem to be all of the above. The problem has passed being serious: it is catastrophic!

How is it that we have drifted away from being an informed, active, knowledgeable, and dedicated group of highly motivated Christian patriots to a group of impotent and anemic sheep? Our Christian forebears must be turning over in their graves, because we are in the process of squandering the greatest human sacrifice–save that of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ–ever made: the sacrifice of America’s Founding Fathers.

Revenge of the Stupid People

By Tom Ambrose

February 8, 2008
NewsWithViews.com

When the people of the United States re-elected Bill Clinton to the U.S. presidency, many people saw that outcome to be the result of the pernicious immorality and retarded public-education standards that have infected America for the past 50 years. Perhaps we can similarly account for liberal John McCain’s recent ascension to the upper ranks of the Republican Party. But why has Ron Paul, who obviously has broad grassroots support and financial backing - not to mention solid positions and a voting record that political conservatives have long sought in a Republican presidential candidate - been dissed by many so-called Christian, conservative leaders and pundits?

Examples? Pat Robertson supported Julie-Annie, while James Dobson reportedly still hasn’t decided whom he wants to endorse (even though his state primary in Colorado just took place). Ann Coulter and other well-known GOP pundits have recently been supporting Flip-Flop Mitt, while action-hero Chuck Norris has propped up the Huckster - a slick, southern preacher masquerading as a conservative politician.

And then there’s my former boss, Joseph Farah, who is notorious for flip-flopping on the 2004 presidential election. However, for the current election, he has now outdone himself. First, he backed Tom Tancredo (who later quit and then endorsed Romney), then he backed Duncan Hunter (who had even less of a chance than Tancredo) - all the while trashing Ron Paul - and then he belatedly and grudgingly endorsed Ron Paul, Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee all at the same time!

Sorry to say it, but I won’t be surprised to hear of some of these people eventually supporting Obamination. Coulter is already asserting she will support Billary if McCain gets the Republican nod, and Dobson just won’t bother voting if McCain is nominated. Nice to know these people have some scruples, eh?

Have these allegedly conservative leaders been smoking dope, or have they merely just lost their minds?

Ron Paul isn’t perfect, but he’s certainly got more brains and integrity than all of these so-called leaders combined. And no matter what you think about Ron Paul’s views on the War on Terror, I have yet to hear anyone who really believes that McCain, Romney or Huckabee can be relied upon to end the massive, illegal rupture of our borders - in fact, just the opposite is true. But, Ron Paul clearly wouldn’t let this nightmare continue if he was elected to be our next president.

Shouldn’t our very highest priority in defending our nation against terrorism be to protect our own borders?

Honestly, folks, I think it is time to admit we have become a doomed nation of fools when even widely followed conservative leaders won’t support a man like Ron Paul, but instead support every reprobate or wannabe who declares him or her self to be of presidential caliber.

What, then, are we to do?

Well, for one thing, monkeys would have to fly out of my butt before I would even consider voting for any of the current front-runners. Instead, I will be writing in Ron Paul’s name on the November ballot since I cannot in good conscience vote for any of the other candidates. Who knows … maybe if enough of us do this, a miracle will happen.

Barring a miracle, brace yourselves and pray like you’ve never prayed before. Life in these United States is going to get exponentially more difficult in the years ahead. We are reaping what we have now sown. Blame it on the stupid people who had a chance to lead us out of this mess but arrogantly chose not to do so.

Ron Paul vs. the Christian Right

Of those contending for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination, only one candidate has compiled a perfect constitutional record – which is why he is anathema to the Christian Right.

By Laurence M. Vance, contributing writer

Ever since Congressman Ron Paul announced that he was a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, I have maintained that, even though he appears to live up to the Christian Right’s own criteria, I believe the leadership of the Christian Right will reject him Christian leaders, many of whom make up what I have called “The Christian Axis of Evil,” love centralization more than federalism, political power more than liberty, war more than peace, politicians more than principles, “faith-based” socialism more than the free market, and the state more than God Almighty.

Why?

Why would the leadership of the Christian Right reject someone who was pro-religion, pro-life, pro-family values, pro-religious liberty, pro-Constitution, and a veteran, who not only was opposed to same-sex marriage, unrestricted immigration, gun control, and the United Nations, but never, in all his years in Congress, voted to raise taxes, took a government-paid junket, or voted for a congressional pay raise?

Why?

I believe this is due to three things: ignorance, stupidity, and statolatry.

The Man Behind the Curtain

By Pastor Chuck Baldwin

January 25, 2008

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!” is the famous quote from the wizard in the movie classic, The Wizard Of Oz. However, when it comes to national and international affairs, many, if not most, Americans seem to have taken the mythical wizard’s advice. They seem oblivious to the man behind the curtain. And make no mistake about it: there is a man (or group of men) behind the curtain.

The American people seem mesmerized by the smoke and mirrors of the political and media elite. For the most part, the people of this country seem totally unaware that while the global elite who run this country passionately promote the “war on terrorism,” those same elite are also violently attacking the liberties of the heartland. While they create a gargantuan Department of Homeland Security for our “protection,” they are using that very same department to eviscerate the constitutional protections of our republic. While they insist that we are dependent upon oil from Saudi Arabia, they are ignoring giant oil and natural gas discoveries located under the frozen tundra of our 49th State (and other places). The elite have brilliantly turned the drumbeats of war against Islamofascism into a giant smokescreen to hide their insidious plans to wage a different kind of war against the American people.

When the Stock Market Crashes

By Paul Proctor
January 23, 2008

When the stock market crashes - and I mean really crashes, we won’t care about Britney Spears anymore. We won’t care about Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Amy Winehouse, Jessica Simpson, or anyone else in Hollywood struggling through their fame and misfortune.

When the stock market crashes, we won’t care anymore about the Oscars - what the nominees will be wearing on the red carpet - the writer’s strike - who crossed the picket lines - those pesky paparazzi or any of our once-favorite TV shows with or without scripts - no, not even American Idol.

We Desperately Need the “Confessing Church”

By Pastor Chuck Baldwin

January 4, 2008

If the reader has not already done so, I again urge you to read the book, Hitler’s Cross, which was written by Erwin Lutzer and published by Moody Press. This book should be “required reading” for every pastor and Christian layman in America. In his book, Lutzer focuses on the attitudes and actions of Germany’s pastors and churches during the rise and reign of the Third Reich. It is a masterpiece.

For those of us living in a country and time far removed from Hitler’s Germany, it is hard to comprehend how that nation’s Christians–and especially its ministers–could have been so thoroughly taken in by old Adolf. We assume such an event could never happen again–especially to us. However, to any honest observer of history, the conditions of the Church in America today are eerily similar to those of the Church in Nazi Germany.

Zeitgeist: Spirit of the Age Refuted

Even secular scholars have rejected the idea of Christianity borrowing from the ancient mysteries. The well-respected Sir Edward Evans-Pritchard writes in Theories of Primitive Religion that “the evidence for this theory … is negligible.”

“The first real parallel of a dying and rising god does not appear until A.D. 150, more than a hundred years after the origin of Christianity. So if there was any influence of one on the other, it was the influence of the historical event of the New Testament [resurrection] on mythology, not the reverse. The only known account of a god surviving death that predates Christianity is the Egyptian cult god Osiris. In this myth, Osiris is cut into fourteen pieces, scattered around Egypt, then reassembled and brought back to life by the goddess Isis. However, Osiris does not actually come back to physical life but becomes a member of a shadowy underworld…This is far different than Jesus’ resurrection account where he was the gloriously risen Prince of life who was seen by others on earth before his ascension into heaven.” — Dr. Norman Geisler

“Not one clear case of any alleged resurrection teaching appears in any pagan text before the late second century A.D., almost one hundred years after the New Testament was written.” — Dr. Gary Habermas

This film refutes the following claims made in the film “Zeitgeist”. (e.g. Christianity was borrowed from pagan myths, the Bible was plagiarized, Jesus wasn’t a historical figure, Christianity was created for social control, the Bible is based on astrology, etc.)
