Deliverance in Times of Trouble

Psalm 32:6-7 (NIV)
"Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to You while You may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance."

All of us at various times in our lives face trouble of some kind or another. Life in a sinful world is full of uncertainties, dangers, and troubles that sometimes suddenly appear to rob us peace and security. It is very easy to drown in this negative aspect of life and give in to despair. To drown in the rising waters of hopelessness.

Fortunately, God may still be found. He is always there to lend a helping, delivering hand when we find ourselves in dire straits, sometimes not of our own fault. Prayer is so important because it puts us in direct communication with God. We can find not only One who empathizes with our problems and troubles, but One who will help us through them. Even if He must carry us.

Prayer is for our benefit. It teaches us to turn to the Lord during good times in thankfulness and praise, and during bad times for help and deliverance. Prayer constantly reminds us that we are not alone, that we can depend on God to save us. It is also necessary for maintaining a close, faithful relationship with Him.

Continual prayer to God does not guarantee that troubles or tragedies will never arise to strike us from time to time, but it does provide a surety that we will be protected from being overwhelmed by them. It means deliverance from hopelessness and utter despair. In God we can find a hiding place. It is like finding a warm mountain cave or other shelter when caught outside in a fierce rainstorm. We can find sanctuary from distress, and rejoice in His deliverance no matter what circumstances surround us.
